National Director
Fr. Joseph Tuscan, OFM Cap
Current Director (2019 - present)
Fr. Joseph Tuscan, OFM Cap., was born in Columbus, OH, in 1967 and was raised in Canton, OH. Making his Perpetual vows in 1993, he studied Theology at the Washington Theological Union before his ordination to the priesthood in 1995.
Fr. Joseph's first assignment after ordination was working with the Capuchin friars in their Provincial mission on the Pacific island of Papua New Guinea where he served for four years. Returning to the US in 2001, he has served in various capacities as Parochial Vicar, Military and Hospital Chaplain and as Pastor.
Most recently, Fr. Joseph worked with our friars in the Custody of Puerto Rico and currently serves as a "full-time Minister of the Word" and Evangelization for our Capuchin Province, offering retreats and reflection days for parishes, Religious and Priests.

Fr. Angelus Shaughnessy, OFM Cap ✝
Former Director (2007-2018)
Capuchin confrere Angelus Shaughnessy, OFM Cap, passed to the Lord's eternal life on Friday, March 2, 2018, in his 89th year, after more than 67 years in vows as a Capuchin friar and 62 years a priest. In 2007 Fr. Angelus succeeded Fr. Lester to serve as the National Executive Director of the Archconfraternity.
He delighted in letting people know that, after circling the globe four times and traveling thousands of miles over barely navigable terrain, he characterized the ministry with the Christian Mothers as "the good life a taste of the hundredfold here on earth."
Fr. Lester Knoll, OFM Cap
Former Director (2004-2007)
Fr. Lester Knoll, OFM Cap., has been a professed Capuchin friar of the Province of Saint Augustine for over 60 years. He has had a variety of leadership and pastoral assignments. His experience made him a natural fit for National Executive Director of the Archconfraternity of Christian Mothers from 2004 – 2007. Already well established among groups of all ages and interests, the wisdom and youthful spirit of Father Lester dovetailed with the variety of women involved in Christian Mothers.
Fr. Lester authored several books, including Looking Over His Shoulder, and Love Is Not Loved, and helped create the revised edition of the Mother Love Prayer Book.
Fr. Bertin Roll, OFM Cap ✝
Former Director (1944-2004)
The Confraternities hold Fr. Bertin Roll, OFM Cap in their hearts and memories. He was the National Executive Director for more than sixty years. They recall his joy and enthusiasm of as he addressed the mothers' needs and duties with fervor and exactness. What a blessing he was!
Fr. Bertin made his transitus to the Lord's presence on January 5, 2015.
With the growth of the Confraternity and new developments in technology, Fr. Tuscan has seen fit to institute a national leadership team according to the practice of the Confraternity in other regions.
The national officers assist him in serving the Christian Mothers throughout the vast territory of the Archconfraternity.
